Materials Part One

This post will be about the types of materials you will need to make this jewelry. I will have pictures to help you understand. Mind you, this is very basic information. If you want to learn more, there are many books and magazines out there on beading and jewelry making. You can find these at most of the large craft stores as well as your local bookstore and on-line.

Let’s look at clasps first

 

From left to right:

Lobster claw

Spring ring

Toggle

From left to right:

Magnetic

Box also called tab insert-: examples of 1,2 or 3 strand (holds up to 3 strings of beads) (I rarely use)

Fish hook (I haven’t use but have on jewelry made by others and given to me)

Fold over (lower right- I have never used)

Others that I don’t use either: S-hooks, barrel hooks, hook and eye

 

Onto : Eye pins, head pins and my favorite earring back: the simple, inexpensive hook

Eyepins, headpins

 

Left to right: There are also kidney bean wires, lever back, ball post with nut

Earring types: I like dangle earrings but you might occasionally see a chandelier (tiered with many beads)

As you can see there are many different styles and colors: Golden, silver, nickel, gun metal, copper, black which with to create your masterpieces.
